During the last years, Itacare has started to be popular as one of the best holiday destinations in summer.

The principal attractions are its beautiful beaches, far from the cities, with palm-trees and small mounts covered by vegetation. The first residents of this zone were the indigenous people The Pataxós.

The remotest beaches are virgin and their access must be achieved by foot during a nice hike.

What is more, this place is ideal for horse riding, mountain cycling, surfing and trekking.

Those beaches that are near to the cities are very popular and present a fine tourist infrastructure.


Among the most important beaches, it is possible to mention:

Del Resende. A little inlet with huge coconut trees. It has white sand and big waves that are perfect for surfing.

De la Concha. It possesses the highest quality tourist infrastructure of Itacare. It has many coconut trees too and its waters are calm and perfect for bathing.

De la Tiririca. This is a recommendable place for surfing because of its big waves.

Del Costa. 1 kilometre from the city. This beach contains coconut trees, white sand and strong waves.

De la Ribeira. It is a popular beach on weekends. It is closed by the Atlantic glade an some little rivers.

Prainha. Its landscape composed by beautiful beaches and green mounts makes it a postcard photograph. It is an excellent place for surfing.

Del Siriaco. A hidden place, not very common.

San José. This is a beach with big waves, white sand and coconut trees. It is inside a tourist complex called Villas de San José. Its tourist infrastructure is well designed.

De la Engenhoca. A solitary place the most part of the year. It is enclosed by Atlantic glade and coconut trees. It is optimal for surfing thanks to its big waves.

Havaizinho. A little beach which is also known as Hawai. It is one of the best beaches for surfing. It presents coconut trees and reeves.

De Jeribucacu. Other lonely beach. A paradisiacal place located in the outlet of The Jeribucacu River.

De Pontal and Piracanga. They are situated to the north of The Contas River. They cover 50 kilometres of solitary beaches plenty of coconut trees. Its big waves are ideal for surfing.

De Itacarezinho. In this place, the marine turtle spawns. It extends itself along 3.5 kilometres. They waves are perfect for surfing practice.

Sierra Grande. It is situated to the south of The Tijuípe River. Its virgin beaches cover many kilometres. This is an area of environmental protection. A famous beach of this sector is De Sargi which possesses warm transparent waters.

MORRO DO SAO PAULO

The locality of Morro do Sao Paulo is placed in The Tinharé Island in the region of Costa del Dendê. This location has only two principal streets and a fine tourist infrastructure. It has 40 kilometres plenty of popular and solitary beaches. In this site, cars are not allow. The only way of transport is by foot, horse and a tractor.

Some outdoor activities to develop are: diving, swimming, horse riding and sunbathing.
