Manaus is the capital of Amazonas whose population is: 1.405.835 inhabitants.
Its limits are: to the south with Rondonia, to the north with Roraima, Venezuela and Colombia, to the east with Pará, to the south west with The State of Acre and Peru, and to the south east with The State of Mato Grosso.
It is the largest State of Brazil. Its extension is calculated in 1.5 millions of kilometres; such extension groups the territories of France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
This State has the biggest rainforest of the world and the major part of the indigenous communities of Brazil.
The 92% of its territory is covered by rainforest and inhabited by 100.000 native people.
Its hydrographical system represents a fifth part of the drinking water of the planet.
The weather in Amazonas is wet and tropical. The regular temperature is 31.4 °C. The rainy station occurs from December to May.
Every year, in June, many people (more than 100.000) participate in a popular folkloric parade that recovers the ancient indigenous legends of Brazil.
