Ceara - Brasil
The State of Ceara was the first province of the ancient empire that eliminated the slavery in 1884. It represents the third biggest economy in the northwest region of Brazil.
The estimated population in 2007 is: 8.185.286 inhabitants.
Ceara contains some of the most beautiful beaches of the world; this is the case of Jericoacoara, which was selected, by The Washington Post, among the 10 most pleasant beaches of the world. The beaches of Ceara show their attractions all along 573 kilometers of the littoral that surrounds The State.
Like no other State of Brazil, Ceara holds a magnificent diversity of ecosystems and landscapes, which present contrasts: beautiful beaches and "sertones" (wild places punished by drought). This territory also has mountains and colonial cities that keep their picturesque cultural traditions.
The weather in Ceara is tropical; the temperature oscillates between 25 and 28 °C. the whole year.
The capital city, Fortaleza, is one of the main cities of this zone. It is also called The Sun’s Daughter.
Other lovely tourist cities in the State are:
* Aracati, that possesses two beautiful beaches, La Luna y La Estrella (The Moon and The Star), placed in the zone of Canoa Quebrada;
* Beberibe, where it is possible to take canoe trips through some dunes and beaches;
* Sobral or Princesa del Norte (The Princess of the North);
* Juazeiro do Norte, a very religious location;
* and Jijoca de Jericoacoara that was mentioned before.
Canoa Quebrada: It is one of the main tourist destinations of Ceara, a moon and a star figure sculpted on the cliff turned it into symbols of Canoa Quebrada. The winds are appropriated for nautical sports. There is a kite surf school that offers courses for beginners. The buggy rides by the dunes are the perfect option for people who wants to feel excited and the beauty landscapes are the best.
Jericoacoara: It was considered one of the mot beauty ten beaches in the world, according to
The New York Times. There is no doubt about the beauty of the natural dunes, the lagoons formed among them, sculptures formed by the winds such as the Pedra Furada.
The windsurfing lovers will find the perfect place, because most of the year the wind blows. Other sports to practice are the surfing, the rally, the trekking, and other sports.
