Goias is one of the most important States of the central - west region.

It is located in the heart of Brazil, 200 kilometers to the south - east of Brasilia.

Ranchmen of Sao Paulo were the first inhabitants of this zone when they were looking for more productive lands.

This region prospered, in the colonial époque, thanks to the rise of rich gold mines. Today, Goias is considered an important centre of meat production and fosterage.

Its current population is: 5.003.228 inhabitants. Accroding census 2000.
Its capital is Goiânia city with: 1.244.645 inhabitants. According census 2007 .
