Sergipe - Brasil

It is placed between Alagoas and Bahia

Its current population is: 2.000.738

Sergipe is the smallest State of Brazil. It used to be the point of concentration and residence of French groups during the colonial period.

It covers an area of 22.000 kilometers, has 173 kilometers of beaches plenty of coconut trees, dunes, virgin flora and small lakes.

The capital city of Sergipe is Aracajú. This city presents long avenues and modern architecture. Its streets seem to be a huge chess board full of luxurious villas.

Aracaju, close to narrow pass of Sergipe River that flows into Atlantic Ocean, had an ideal zone for building a port in order to export sugar and create a new city. Aracajú arose as the first planned city in that place, and then it became the capital. It was founded in 1855; Sergipe´s capital is part of national and international tourism, with attractions like the coast (special hull’s ships for sailing into not very deep waters), rivers and beaches make it the best touristy place.
Aracaju is well recognized thanks to its high quality of life.

The beaches of Aracaju are popular and the tourist infrastructure is good.

Among the most important beaches, it is possible to mention:

. Atalaia Nueva
. De Abaís (Estancia)
. De Atalaya Vieja
. De Caueira (Itaporanga D´Ayuda)
. De Pirambu.

. Do Saco
. Pontal
