Weather

During summer (from December to March), the weather is hot and wet. There are a lot of fluvial precipitations in this season. On the other hand, during winter, the temperature descends considerably; nevertheless, the climate is agreeable. The annual temperature average is over 20°C.

Tourist places

The Cristo Redentor, symbol of Rio de Janeiro, was named one of the New Seven Wonders in the World. The carioca postcards show this 39-meter high image. It was built in 1922 and inaugurated on October 12, 1931. It is the unique Brazilian wonder.

From its 38 meters high, and from the 710 meters high of the Morro do Corcovado, the Christ is the image of faith is appreciated by the carioca inhabitants and was totally finished in 2008, during 77 years. From the 2000, when it got lighting, the monument and its access were revitalized. The main point was the inauguration of the mechanical access in 2002, with elevators and escalators. So, it is not necessary to go up its 220 stairs to get there.

The Cristo Redentor has 3 panoramic elevators, each one for 14 persons. There is a place of entering for people who get by car or by train of the Estrada de Ferro do Corcovado.

There were built mechanic bridges supported by another four-meter long frame and has four escalators with capacity of 9 thousand people’s traffic per hour.

As any other big city, Rio de Janeiro suffers from some security problems. In this sense, certain recommendations are exposed:

- Be careful with luggage and laptops.
- Try to take taxis belonged to the airport own service.
