Sao Luis - Maranhao

It is a fluvial port. It is the capital of The State of Amarhao. It is placed in the occidental part of The Bay of Sao Marcos.

It was an important economic centre of the Portuguese Empire in the middles of The XVIII and XIX Centuries.

The main characteristic of the city is its Portuguese architecture, which is considered a patrimony.

Sao Luis also has 32 kilometres of coast which are covered by beautiful beaches.

At 317 kilometres, there is Barreirinhas City, that is considered a door for someone most beautiful locations of the south littoral and the country: the National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses. This is one typic desert, because it is the unique in the world with thousands of crystalline drinking water lakes. Moreover, it possesses a sea of dunes that covers 70 kilometres of coast. The park is enormous and there are no special roads to get there. So, to visit it, it is necessary to rent a 4*4 vehicle.
