BEACHES OF THE SOUTH LITTORAL

PITIMBU

It is located in the south littoral of Joao Pessoa. 74 kilometres from it. This is a privileged region by nature. It possesses kilometres of beaches, reeves, sand dunes, coconut trees and natural pools with calm waters. The tourist infrastructure is well organised.

Among the most important beaches, it is possible to mention:

Pitimbu An urban beach, that is perfect for swimming because of its calm water.

Guarita This beach is located to the south of Pitimbu. It has summer houses and long sand borders.

Dos Mariscos (Costa do Marlim) A beach with calm water and coconut trees.

Ponta dos Coqueiros This is a new beach, where the water is calm and there are many coconut trees.


JACUMA

Jacuma is situated in the south littoral of Joao Pessoa, 32 kilometres from it. This zone is also privileged by nature. It contains kilometres of beaches with beautiful green-blue waters. Besides, it has some natural pools with calm water. The tourist infrastructure is well designed.

Among the main beaches, it is possible to mention:

Jacuma It is a popular urbanised beach. It presents some natural pools, with fine sand, formed by rocks. A nice place to stopover is La Piedra Furada (The Furada Stone), an immense volcanic rock that has 2 meters of diameter.

Tabatinga A beautiful beach which is placed close to the beach of Tambaba. It has natural pools formed by reeves, with fine sand and calm water.

Coqueirinho A little bay with calm waters. It contains some small rivers and natural fountains full of drinking water. This is a perfect place for immersions and bathing.

Tambaba A small beach that is enclosed by rocks and vegetation. This was one of the first nudist beaches in the Brazilian north east.

Barra do Garaú e Bela This beach has abundant vegetation and it is recommended for families.


BEACHES OF THE NORTH LITTORAL

BAHIA DA TRAICAO

It is situated 85 kilometres from Joao Pessoa. This region was blessed by nature. It contains kilometres of virgin beaches where it is also possible to find lonely sites and small populations. The tourist infrastructure is not totally developed. The Beach of Barra de Camaratuba, 102 kilometres from Joao Pesso, is an interesting place to visit.

CAMPINA GRANDE

It is situated 125 kilometres from Joao Pessoa. This is the second main city of Paraiba. Campina Grande presents a cultural mix that receives a significant influence from the north east region of the country. Every year, the celebration of Sao Joao takes place on June. The 24th, at night, this catholic saint is commemorated in the community park. Joao Pessoa and Campina Grande concentrate a big part of the economy of Paraiba.
