Archipelago Fernando de Noronha - Pernambuco

Its exact location is:

540 kilometres from Recife. (1h 40" by plane).
540 kilometres from Natal. (1h 40" by plane).

To arrive there, it is possible to depart from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte or Recife.

This Archipelago is composed by 21 islands which cover 26 kilometres.

The beaches are paradisiacal, plenty of exuberant flora and marine fauna. It is a natural ecosystem where diverse species life.

Fernando de Noronha is a popular place among local and foreign visitors.

The ecological conditions of this natural paradise called the attention of several environmental organizations and, in 2002, The UNESCO declared this place a Human Patrimony.

The archipelago forms a natural barrier against the waves by conforming a natural pool where it is possible to observe many marine species.

This place is considered one of the best locations for diving. The waters are crystalline and the visibility reaches the 50 meters.


Among the most popular sites for diving, it is possible to mention:

Carguero Griego Eliane Estatatus It is located in the Sao Antonio Bay. It is 8 meters deep.

Laje Dois Irmaos It is placed in Dos Porcos Bay. It is 12 meters deep.

Luais This is a coral plain that is 23 metres deep.

A recommendable place to stopover is The Beach of Conceiçao where marine turtles can be observed.


Among the main beaches, it is possible to mention:

Praiado Leao. It is situated in the direction of the open sea. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil. In this place, marine turtles spawn.

Atalaia. The reeves of this beach form natural aquariums plenty of diverse fish species. To visit this site, it is necessary to obtain a pass from the national park.

Sao Antonio Bay. This is a little port, ideal for diving.

De Conceicao. In the period of high tide, it is ideal for surfing and, in the period of low tide, it is recommendable for swimming because the sea is very calm.

De Boldró. The waters of this beach are perfect for surfing thanks to its big waves. This site contains an interesting place to visit: The Fort of Sao Pedro do Boldró.

Cacimbado do Padre.
This is one of the best beaches of the archipelago. It is perfect for surfing, in summer, because the waves are 5 meters high.

Dos Porcos Bay. This place is plenty of rocks. The sand is not so abundant. Through the water, it is possible to see colourful fish, but diving is not allowed. This bay contains The Fort of Sao Joa Batista.

Do Sancho Bay. This is another perfect place for diving thanks to the good visibility and the diversity of marine fauna. In this location, marine turtles spawn too.
