Angra dos Reis - Rio de Janeiro

168 kilometres from Rio de Janeiro. It is placed to the south of Rio de Janeiro´s coast, in the littoral.

This is a land formed by beautiful beaches and integrated by many tourist attractions.

Angra dos Reis is estimated as a paradise and considered a discrete refuge for foreign tourists.

It has more than 360 islands and 2.000 beaches. The trips by ship in the course of the islands are splendid, and it is possible to buy souvenirs and other products from the embarkation.

Some nice locations to traverse for are The Saco del Cielo (The Heaven´s Bag) and The Botinas, an excellent site to practice immersions.

Is interesting to visit:

Monumento aos Náufragos
Pico do Frade
Convento de Nossa Senhora do Carmo
Ilha da Gipóia
Ilhas de Cataguás
Ilhas Botinas
Praia da Biscaia
Praia da Enseada.

The most important beaches of the bay are:

De la Figueira. This beach contains dense vegetation characterized by cocoteros (coconut trees). Close to the sand, there are summer houses. Cars are not allowed, so, the way to arrive there is by ship or by boat.

De las Yeguas. Beach of dark fine sand and calm transparent green water. It is 80 meters long.

De Mambucaba. This beach is situated in The Historical Nucleus of Mambucaba. This is a required place for camping. A detached place to visit is The Church of Rosario, next to the beach, where, on its furthest end, an area covered by dense vegetation can be observed. The beach contains transparent warm green waters.

Del Anil. This beach is inside the urban area. It is mostly frequented by local population. Its sand is gross and dark. From this site, many ships depart to Villa de Abraao that is placed in Isla Grande (Big Island). There is a port, a ramp and a helicopter. The band of the sand is limited by an ample sidewalk. This beach limits to the south with The Yatch Club Aquidabã.

De Bonfim. A popular urban beach with calm transparent water and fine clear sand. From this beach, it is possible to see an inlet where The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Bonfim is placed. The famous party of Bonfim is celebrated in the beach on May.

Grande. It is a famous beach which is frequented by many people. Its horizon is covered by dense vegetation and there are several summer residences on the band of a fine clear sand. It is 500 meters long and its water is warm with a green tonality.

Del Camorim. It covers 200 meters of clear sand and transparent green water.

Vermelha. It covers 300 meters of clear sand and transparent green water too. It is situated in the zone of The Sierra del Mar enclosed by dense vegetation. The houses constructed on the beach are part of The Porto Barlovento Condominium.

The Island of Gipóia.

This is the second biggest island of the bay of Angra. It is well know because of its crystalline water, calm waves and white sand.

Among the detached beaches of this sector, it is possible to mention:

- De las Flechas (Arrows). This beach receives a major number of tourists who likes participating in launch excursions. Its warm clean waters are ideal for nautical sports. To arrive there, it is necessary to take a boat; in consequence, there are two piers for diverse types of embarkations.

- De Mergulho. It is surrounded by several islands. Its marine fauna is very rich and abundant. Its beautiful waters are clear, calm and emerald green. This site is ideal for diving.

- Piedade. A beach with transparent waters. A fishermen location.
