Petrópolis or The City of Pedro is the unique imperial city of South America. Its origins can be found in The XIX Century.

In the époque of the monarchy in Brazil, The Emperor, Pedro II ordered the construction of his summer palace in this region. He moved towards there with his family with the aim of escaping from the hottest summers of Rio (40 °C.).

An artistic tradition of Petrópolis is the choral group. There are many choral groups, a recognized one is Los Niños Cantores de Petrópolis, this group acts in national and international events.

Itaipava

On the way to Petropolis, Itaipava is situated. This is a region recognized as a gastronomic centre. It concentrates some of the best restaurants of Rio.

Other locations that share such fame are: Correas, Araras and Nogueira; this last one has a big golf camp.
