Porto Velho - Rondonia
Porto Velho is the capital of Rondonia. It has 300.000 residents approximately; the most part of them are immigrants who came, decades ago, as a result of a governmental policy to settle the region.
Porto Velho is popular because of its magnificent roadway, made of iron, that was built during The Caucho Époque (The Gum Époque). This road extends itself over 350 kilometres, however, today, only 27 kilometres are useful.
Is interesting to visit:
Museum of Estrada de Ferro
Estaçao Ferroviaria Madeira-Mamore
As Caixas d´Agua Tres Marias
Provincial Museum
Belmont Lake
Beach of the Periquitos and Areia Branca.
Madeira River
This river connects The State of Rondonia with two important cities of the northern region: Manaus and Belém. Many trips and excursions are organised to traverse the river.
Tourist infrastructure is well designed. There are different hotels and good restaurants.
