Laguna - Santa Catarina
This is the second most ancient city of The State of Santa Catarina. It was founded in 1676.
Laguna is located 123 kilometres to the south of Florianópolis.
It was an important scenery of many battles and confrontations between the imperial forces and the local troops.
In the last part of The XIX Century, a foreign immigration started. People from Italy, Germany and Poland arrived to these lands and played a crucial part on its development.
Laguna is a colonial city whose antique constructions and solitary beaches combine history and modernism.
The region possesses also several lakes and beaches which are ideal for surfing, fishing, nautical sports or bathing, such as do Mar Grosso that is one of the most popular beaches.
Another famous beach is del Iró, a place with an exuberant beautifulness that is represented by nice red stones which, little by little, enter into the sea.
A special attraction in Laguna is The Carnival, in which, many samba schools and bands participate. This is the most important carnival in Santa Catarina.
