This city is an important tourist balneary in Sao Paulo. It is well known because of an excellent tourist infrastructure and its urbanized beaches.
The quietest beaches are placed to the south, they have bays and inlets with calm waters.

There are six islands in Peruíbe´s maritime platform, among them, Little and Big Queimadas, a biologic reserve where the dangerous Jararacas Ilhoas (Bothrops Insularis) live; these animals are exceptional poisoning snakes. They are a very rare specie in the world.
Beaches:
Guaraú Beach. 8 kilometres from the city. This beach has fine sand and clean water. The islands of Guaraú and Guararetama are placed in front of it. This beach is recommended for surfing and fishing.
Prainha Beach. It is situated between two other beaches: Costão and Guaraú. It contains fine sand and an incredible panoramic view. It is an ideal location for a variety of nautical sports.
Desertinha Beach. 22 kilometres from the city. To access it, it is necessary to follow a path from Carambore. It is a 20 minute walking.
Carambore Beach. 23 kilometres from the city. It is a large and lonely beach.
Barra de Una Beach. 25 kilometres from the city. It is a fishermen community.
