Santo André - São Paulo
Santo Andre municipality comprises the metropolitan region of great Sao Paulo, forming part of a municipalities group known as the ABC region. The Santo André population is: 659.283 according census 2006.
Most of the population is Italian, Portuguese and Spaniard descents and also from other nationalities. The paulista history must not be considered previous of the immigration of Portuguese, indigenous and African people. Since the 60s the migratory flow of other Brazilian cities has increased, it is estimated that, at the present time, a fifth percent of San Andre population comes from other states, mainly from the northeast and south of the city.
How to get to Santo Andre
There are inter-municipal private lines, are administered by Metropolitan Company of Urban Transportation (EMTU). These lines connect Santo André with several municipalities of Sao Paulo and with regions of the capital. Some of them stop on the bus station of Santo Andre and in some neighbors of the city.
It is possible to arrive by trains of Paulista Company (CPTM). The line is connected with express east-Guaianazes-Luz, in the Bras station. In some stations, it is possible to have access to bus station.
The bus station of Santo Andre receives inter-department and inte-state buses that will transport you to south coast of Sao Paulo, cities and to states of several Brazilian regions.
