Travel Joao Pessoa - Brasil

This is the capital of Paraíba, its European origins dates back from 400 years, specifically, 1585. In the region of the beaches, all along the coast, the construction of high buildings is forbidden. The city is plenty of parks, avenues, fruit and ornamental trees; as well as 138 kms covered by beautiful sands, calm waters, white sand and coconuts. The sun shines the entire year.
It is interesting to visit the historical centre. The most important beaches are the following:

a) Barra de Mamanguape
This beach is protected beach by reeves. It counts with small waves.

b) de Campina
This beach has big waves and fine sand. There are small dunes in some places.  This is an ideal place for bathing.

c) do Oiteiro
This beach presents big waves, dunes with fine sand and some coconuts.  There is not tourist infrastructure. It is a perfect place for surfing.

d) do Bom Sucesso
This is a beach covered by stones and with dark waters.  It is recommendable to visit here the remains of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso Church.

e) Ponta de Matos
It is an urban beach surrounded by reeves and coconuts. The waves are small and calm and the sand is dark. This is a nice place for bathing.

f) Formosa
This beach is protected by reeves. It has big waves and dark sand. It is a perfect place for surfing.

g) de Areia Dourada
Contrary to its name (Golden Beach), this beach possesses red sand, calm water and some coconuts.

h) da Camboinha
This is a beach of small waves and clear waters. It is an ideal place for bathing, family walking and other nautical sports. From this beach, boats depart to the Areia Vermelha Island.

i) do Pouco
This beach is protected by reeves.  It presents small waves, a calm sea and fine sand. From this beach, boats depart to the Areia Vermelha Island.

j) da Ponta de Campina
This is a beach with red fine sand. Its waters are calm and clear. It is interesting to visit here the ruins of the Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes Church.

dos Macacos
This beach possesses big waves and white sand. It is a perfect place for surfing. Marine turtles arrive here in order to give birth.

l) do Bessa
This is an urban beach that covers 6 kilometers. The waters are calm and the sand is dark. The famous Club da Paraíba is situated here.

Praia Manaíra
It is an urban beach with fine sand and small waves.

n) de Tambaú
It is one of the most visited beaches of the zone. The waters are calm and the sand is fine. Its pedestrian pass is very popular as well as its nocturnal life.

o) do Cabo Branco
This is an urban beach with fine sand and calm waters.  Its pedestrian pass is very popular as well as its cycle way.

p) do Sol
This beach has dark waters and fine sand.

q) da Barra do Gramame
This beach possesses calm and clear waters. There are some fishermen houses in the zone. Summer houses are available.

r) da Areia Vermelha Island and do Picão Zinho
These are places which contain beautiful beaches; some of them are:

- Areia Vermelha: it is well known because of its sand banks where natural pools are formed; such pools appear every 25 days. To arrive to this place, it is necessary to take a boat from Camboinhas.

- Picãozinho: it is well known because of its natural pools surrounded by reeves and plenty or choral formations. It is a perfect place for diving. To arrive to this place, it is necessary to take a boat from Tambaú beach.

João Pessoa possesses other important beaches like:

- Pitimbu
It is located 74 km from João Pessoa. It is a privileged place by nature, it contains several kilometers covered bye beaches, reeves, sand dunes and coconuts. Natural pools, with calm waters, are formed all over the place. Among its most important beaches, it is possible to mention:    

a) de Pitimbu
It is an urban beach with calm waters. It is ideal for bathing and family walks.

b) da Guarita
It is located to the south of Pitimbu. Its summer houses and sand dunes are popular in the region.

c) dos Mariscos (do Marfim Coast)
This is a calm water beach that is plenty of coconuts.

dos Coqueiros Ponta
This is a new beach with calm water and some coconuts.
- Jacuma
It is situated 32 km from João Pessoa. It is a privileged place by nature. It possesses several kilometers of blue green water beaches and natural pools with calm waters. The tourist infrastructure is regular there. Among its most important beaches, it is possible to mention:

a) de Jacuma
This is a permanently visited urban beach. It possesses fine sand and natural pools. It is interesting to visit here “Pedra Furada”, a volcanic rocky formation, 2 meters wide.

b) de Tabatinga
This is a nice beach that is situated close to the Tambada beach. It is well known thanks to its natural pools surrounded by reeves and with calm waters and fine sand.

c) do Coqueirinho
This is a beach of calm waters, small rivers and some natural fountains. It is an ideal place for swimming, diving and family walks.  

d) Tambada
This beach is protected by dense vegetation. This was one of the first nudist beaches in the northeast of Brazil.

e) da Barra, do Garaú and Bela
These are beaches plenty of abundant vegetation. They are perfect places for swimming and family walks.

João Pessoa also possesses other important beaches to the north, among them, it is possible to mention:

- da Traição Bay
It is located 82 km from João Pessoa. It is a privileged place by nature. It contains several kilometers of virgin beaches, lonely beaches and small populations. Tourist infrastructure is not adequate. It is interesting to visit here the Camaratuba beach which is located 102 km from João Pessoa.

- Campina Grande. This city is located 125 km from João Pessoa. It is considered the second most important region of Paraíba. It presents a cultural mix that keeps a strong northern influence. Every year, the famous “Festas Juninas” take place in the Povo Park; such celebration includes “the night of São João” – a catholic saint whose celebration day is on June, 24 -. The cities of João Pessoa and Campina Grande keep an important part of the economy of Paraíba.
