Bonito municipality is located to the southeast of Mato Grosso do Sul State, considered one of the most beautiful regions in the world. It is considered paradise of ecotourism for nature and adventure sport lovers who are attracted by its numerous natural beauties, mountains, valleys, prehistoric caves, archaeological sites, rivers, lagoons, bays and specially the wonderful waterfalls with natural pools; considered the best natural areas of Brazil.
It is very crowded by diving and radical sports lovers. These lands were inhabited by indigenous tribes, great fishers and hunters, main activities for subsisting through the history.
Nowadays, the municipality has all facilities, services for attending the great quantity of visitors that arrive every year.
Places to visit
Serra da Bodoquena:
Attractions: It is considered one of the most beautiful regions in the world. It is full of numerous rivers and waterfalls, rocky formations, caves and natural pools, and it is visited by adventure sport lovers.
Das Cachoeiras Park
Attractions: It is formed by six waterfalls whose impressive natural pools stand out and also the caverns.
Bahía Bonita Ecological Park
Attractions: It is a natural aquarium, formed by crystal waters, where a lot of aquatic species of plants and animals live.
Formoso River Ecological Park
Attractions: the wonderful vegetation stands out and also its 14 waterfalls and Lago del Encontro (lake).
Balneario Municipal (Resort)
Attractions: It is located 7Km from the downtown. It is formed by clear waters of Formoso River and it is administered by Municipality Prefecture
Balneario Tarumã (Resort)
Attractions: It is a tourist complex, located to 4Km from Bonito. Surroundings, there are a natural pool and a beautiful waterfall.
Formoso River
Attractions: It is one of the most clear waters rivers in the region, where numerous fish and a lot of species live. It is favorable for diving and rafting. Surroundings, there are many springs that cover Bonito municipality.
Do Peixe River
Attractions: Do Peixe River stands out by its clear waters and its wonderful nature.
Surroundings, 35Km away from Bonito city, there are 11 beauty waterfalls that form an spectacular pool and its caves.
Mimoso River
Attractions: It is visited by the high risk sports lovers, as rafting, one of the most practiced ones.
Cachoeiras do Rio Peixe
Attraction: They are located on Fazenda Água Viva, 35 Km from the city, towards to Bodoquena. It is appropriated for bathing and is considered one of the most beautiful natural sceneries in the municipality.
Sucuri River
Attractions: It characterizes by its rich aquatic vegetation and its numerous colorful fish. It is the perfect place for diving.
Cachoeira Boca da Onça
Atractivo: It is the biggest waterfall of the State, is 165 meters fall, and is one of the most spectacular waterfalls of Brazil, visited by high-risk sports lovers. For arriving there, you will arrive three hours through the bush.
Cachoreiras do Aquidaban
Attraction: They are located to 48 Km. and are formed by Aquidaban River. They are 11 waterfalls of different sizes; one of them is 120 meters high, considered one of the biggest ones of the region. Surroundings, you will appreciate panoramic views of the zone.
Do Mimoso Caves
Attraction: It is considered done the most beautiful in the World. Inside, there is a 300 meters high lake with blue and clear waters, and its numerous and impressive stalactites.
Do Lago Azul Cave
Attraction: The cave was declared National Monument, was discovered by Terena indigenous and is located in Fazenda Jaraguá, 20 Km. from Bonito, towards Campor dos Indios. There is a beautiful deep lake with clear waters surrounded by millenary landscape with a lot of stalactites. No bathing in this lake.
Cave of São Miguel
Attraction: São Miguel Cave is located 16 Km away from Bonito, is rich in chalky formations. It is considered one of the most important ones in the municipality and form part of “Reserva Natural Parque Ecológico Vale Anhumas” (Reserve).
Nuestra Señora de Aparecida (Cave)
Attraction: It is a rocky formation, 60 meters deep, located 7 Km. from Bonito. The stalactites and stalagmites form figures of animals, persons and objects.
Abyss of Inhumas
Attractions: Rappel practice, it is 71 meters high, inside there is a lake that is appropriated for diving 20 meters depth.
Da Figueira Beach
Attraction: It is located 14 Km. away from Bonito and is one of the best ones for resting, swimming and diving.

The only bus company from Campo Grande is Cruzeiro do Sul with departures with the following schedules:

There is only one line, departs from San Pablo to Jardín city, on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 19:00hrs, whose travel lasts 15 hours. When you arrive to Jardin city, there are buses of Cruzeiro do Sul to Bonito.

The best season to visit Bonito
The high and low season are well defined, the holidays and vacations are high and the rest are low ones. The rates in hotels and inns and travel agencies is different for every season, it is advisable not going on holidays.
Many of tourist attractions and trips have limited vacancies, in high season, hotels are always full. So, it is advisable to make your reservations before arriving.
Staying
It is ideal to stay four days, for having every kind of excursion. In low season, it is not necessary to program in advance; you will do it when you arrive there.
Walks
Important clues:
Each walk has the maximum of daily visits; the ideal is making your reservations in advance.
All walks are paid. The rates varies from R$ 10 to R$ 65. For rappelling and diving the rates are high, the transportation is not included.
Any reservation should be done by a travel agency. The agency will be responsible of reservations, tourist guide contracting and an authorization too.
According a municipal right of Bonito city, it is obligatory to have excursions with an authorized tourist guide by EMBRATUR (Brazilian Tourism Company) and registered in Mayor’s Office.
What to carry
It is essential bath suit, cape or hat, backpack, tennis, t-shirts, shorts, overall, raining clothing, sun protector, repellent, camera, and in winter cold clothing.
You can visit Bonito in any season, but the ideal months are December and March, in raining season, the landscape is green and the animals go out to eat. The rivers are high and the waterfalls are plentiful. On May and August the grass is dry.

Lodging reservation
If you want to go in high season, in summer and holiday; it is necessary to book in advance. However, there are many hotels and lodgings but there is less probability to find one. It is good to make a call for asking availability, even in low season.
Camping
There are two camping areas: Balneario Municipal and Ilha do Padre. The camping areas open the 24 hours a day. The walking areas have schedules for visiting them.
