Pantanal - Brasil

The Matogrossence Pantanal was declared by UNESCO as one of the most exuberant and diversified natural reserves of the world; integrating the heritages of the world. It is located in South America, has the biggest humid area. In the hydrographic, the Pantanal is part of basin of Paraguay River, composed by an immense plain of wetland area.

Factors like relief, climate and hydrograph of the region benefits to several species of animals and plants that live in the area. The best season for observing the fauna is from April to June, known as “vazante”, when animals come from the high places for gathering in the lakes with abundant fish.

HOW TO ARRIVE

BY AIR – Four companies have regular flights from Sao Paulo to Campo Grande. Varig, Tam, Pantanal and Gol, depart from Congohnas. Cuiaba, Varig, Gol and Tam have regular flights from Sao Paulo.

BY LAND – In Mato Grosso, it is possible to go to the Pantanal by different roads: from Cuiaba to Cáceres by MT – 070 road; it is possible to go to Pocone by BR – 070 to roundabout that lead to the city.

From Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, there are many companies that render this service with different timetables to Campo Grande and Cuiabá

BY SEA – From Cuiba it is possible to arrive to Melgado by Cuitava River; by Paraguay River to other cities. Other way to arrive is by waterway Paraguay – Pantanal, it is possible to arrive from Pantanal to Atlantic Ocean.

WHAT TO DO IN PANTANAL

Walking by paths – Walking by the paths make people enjoy the environment and natures that surround them.

Buying – The best option to go shopping is in Campo Grande, where the prices are lower than the other ones.

Films – The inns and hotels sell films, but they are more expensive than the market. It is better to buy in Campo Grande.

Cigarettes – There aren’t cigarettes inside inns, people that smoke should carry out them.
 
Transportation– It is possible to arrive to Pantanal, by air, buses or car to Campo Grande. For arriving to inns, it is possible to arrive by bus. The airlines that arrive are: TAM, Varig, Pantanal and Gol.

Distance – Campo Grande is 1.087 Km. away from Sao Paulo. Cuiaba is 1.087 km away from Sao Paulo.

NEAR CITIES TO PANTANAL

CACERES – It is located 215 Km from Cuiba Mato Grosso capital.

Main attractions: The International Fishing Festival is carried out after the firsts two weeks of September, more than one hundred people visit the city, and there is one of the biggest fishing tournaments in the world.

POCONE – Located 102 Km. away from Cuiaba
Main attractions: Cavallada is a tradition from 1769, a sham of battle between Christians and Mouros; it is carried out on June.

CORUMBÁ – It is located 435 Km. away from Campo Grande. It has the best infrastructure in Pantanal.

Main attractions: Fuerte Coimbra, was built with 1.775 old canons, in this place there is a military base; it is located on the Paraguay shores.

Pantanal Park: Road that leads to “buraco das pirañas” that means the piranha’s hole. During the trip people can see many animals like sicuri, tuyuyú araras, crocodiles and others species.

Boat trips by Paraguay River: Three hours of trip, where it is possible to see the first naval arsenal in Ladario of 1.872. There is a place to fish.
