Porto de Galinhas - Brasil

It is like a paradise, has natural swimming pools; located in Ipojuca province 53 Km away from Recife. Porto Galinhas is considered one of the best touristy places of Brazil. There, there is variety of restaurants, bars, where it is possible to choose what people want: sea food, Japan sushi, Italian food, etc. The main attractions of the region are: beaches, surf, diving, boat rides, beach buggy ride (special cars for driving on sand dunes).
 
Porto Galinhas is very crowded in summer. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in northeast of Brazil, because of its beautiful landscapes: beaches with clear waters, formed by corals, estuaries, marshes, coconut plantations and other beautiful ones.

Porto de Galihnas name (Hen’s Port) comes from cultivation of Pau Brazil trees. In that place, there was smuggling of slaves, who were hided in chicken cages inside ships. When the ship arrived with slaves to he beach, were announced saying “There are new hens in the port”, in this way the former Puerto Rico was known as “El Puerto de Gallinas”

MAIN TOURISTY ATRACTIONS

There are many options for visiting this place. In the morning, people can go to natural beaches, and visit nearby beaches like Muro Alto, Maracaipe, a preferred place for people who love surfing. In the afternoon and at night the beach is crowded. Many people go to restaurants, bars and souvenir shops in the town of Porto Galinhas; from there, people can take boat and beach buggy observing natural beaches in the wonderful Pontal de Maracaipe.

BEACHES

CAMBOA: Camboa beach is near Suape Port. Its main characteristic is the tempered waters and the natural swimming pools in the middle of coconuts trees.

MURO ALTO: It is a preserved zone of the region. Its name is because there is a big natural sand wall in the zone. People only can arrive by beach buggy. Its beach is formed by reefs with natural pools and calm waves, making it the perfect place to swim.

CUPE: Most of the hotels are located in this beach. There, the tourist can find access to a peaceful and pleasant place with high waves.

PORTO DE GALINHAS: It is located in Ipojuca 60 Km. away from Recife; Porto Gallinhas is one of the most visited beaches of northwest coast. The beach offers good location and infrastructure with bars, restaurants, accommodations, natural swimming pools with colorful fish; the tourist can swim among them. It is the perfect place to ride in small “jandadas “(small boats with sails) or by buggy on the sand.

MARAIPE: It is the perfect place to enjoy. Maracaipe beach is known because many people who practice surf come to this place. There, many championships are carried out and people can enjoy the gastronomy of Vila.
